Rabbi David Singer is the Director of UC San Diego Hillel. David previously served as Associate Rabbi of Congregation Shearith Israel in Dallas, TX, where he was the founder, director and rabbi of Makom, a young spiritual community recognized by Slingshot 14-15 as one of the most innovative Jewish organizations in North America.
Named by The Jewish Daily Forward as one of American’s Most Inspiring Rabbis, David is a graduate of Clal’s Clergy Leadership Incubator, a fellow in Rabbis Without Borders, and is the recipient of the Natan/NEXT Grant for Social Entrepreneurs as well as an Ignition Grant from the Covenant Foundation. David has served on the Leadership Committee of the Special Needs Fellowship of Dallas Jewish Family Services and has previously worked closely with American Jewish World Service and Brooklyn Jews of Congregation Beth Elohim in Brooklyn.
David is a California native; he studied history at the University of California, Berkeley and is a graduate of the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at the American Jewish University.
David is married to Danielle Rugoff, with whom he raises a french bulldog, Jackson.
