David Singer is a rabbinical student at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies, at the American Jewish University in Bel Air, CA, with expected ordination in May 2012. Concentrating his studies in Philosophy, David is writing his thesis about the dance between halakhic authority and personal autonomy in modernity. He received is BA in History with honors from the University of California, Berkeley in 2004.

David is the Assistant Director of Rabbinic Management Institute, a year-long certificate program in nonprofit management offered to rabbis at American Jewish University. Additionally, David writes for American Jewish World Service’s Dvar Tzedek Torah Commentary, a weekly column exploring the Torah portion and issues of social justice.

David is passionate about teaching Torah, building community, and Apple computers.
